Description
The PMAG 30 AK/AKM Gen M3 is Magpul’s answer to a straightforward problem: most AK-pattern shooters who want a reliable polymer magazine are choosing between cheap imports with inconsistent fit and expensive steel magazines that add carry weight. This one sits between those options in both price and construction approach, built from impact-resistant polymer with reinforced metal inserts at the stress points most likely to fail under repeated use—the areas around the magazine catch and the feed lips.
The constant-curve geometry of the body follows the natural arc of the 7.62x39mm cartridge stack, which keeps spring tension consistent from the first round to the last. A low-friction polymer follower reduces the force required to strip rounds into the chamber, which matters most in cold weather when lubricants thicken and tolerances tighten. The stainless steel spring is corrosion-resistant and maintains tension through extended storage without taking a set the way some cheaper alloys will.
The floorplate is removable for cleaning and inspection without tools, and the magazine disassembles fully if you need to clear debris or replace a component. There are no dust covers, which keeps the design simple and reduces parts that can be lost in the field. It is made in the USA and fits standard AK-47, AKM, and AKS pattern rifles—though fit can vary across imported and assembled rifles depending on how closely the receiver dimensions match the original spec. If your rifle runs steel magazines without issue, this will almost certainly drop in and lock without modification.
