Description
The Magpul PMAG 30 AUS M3 is built specifically for Steyr AUG, F88, and F90 rifles — it will not fit AR-15, M16, or M4 platform rifles, so if you run a Steyr, this is one of the few factory-grade polymer magazine options designed around that platform’s unique feed geometry. The AUG’s rotary bolt and distinct magazine well impose specific dimensional requirements that standard STANAG-pattern magazines cannot meet, and Magpul engineered this one from the ground up to match them rather than adapting an existing design.
The body is built from reinforced polymer and uses a constant-curve internal geometry, which keeps the cartridge stack on a consistent feed angle from a full 30 rounds down to the last few. This matters most under fast follow-up fire, where a magazine that shifts the feed angle as it empties can introduce inconsistent chambering. The anti-tilt follower is self-lubricating, which removes the need for periodic lubrication of that component and reduces the chance of a tilted follower causing a misfeed after extended storage. The spring is stainless steel for corrosion resistance over the long term.
Handling details include ribbed gripping surfaces and aggressive front and rear texture, which give you purchase during a reload with wet or gloved hands. A capacity window lets you do a fast visual check of remaining rounds without dropping the magazine. The flared floorplate aids both disassembly and indexing during a reload, and dot-matrix panels on the base accept paint pen markings for unit or load identification.
