Description

The Magpul X-22 Backpacker is built around a specific problem: getting a Ruger 10/22 Takedown into the backcountry without dragging along a full-size rifle case. The stock accepts the 10/22 Takedown’s barrel assembly and locks it directly to the stock body during transport, so the two halves of the rifle travel as a single, compact unit rather than loose pieces rattling around a pack. That locking interface is the design’s central idea, and it’s what separates this from a standard aftermarket stock.

Once you reach camp or a field position, the rifle assembles in the same way it always does. The ergonomic handguard gives the support hand a consistent hold, and the stock comes with two interchangeable cheek risers — a standard riser and a taller optic-height riser — so the fit doesn’t change depending on whether you’re shooting iron sights or a mounted optic. The MOE SL rubber butt pad sits flush and doesn’t snag on pack straps or jacket material.

Storage is genuinely thought through rather than just mentioned as a feature. The grip houses a small compartment suited to a cleaning kit or a few loose rounds, while the hinged compartment in the stock holds up to three spare 10-round magazines — meaning the rifle, its spare ammunition, and basic maintenance supplies can all travel together in a single package. QD sling cups can be added if you want to carry the assembled rifle slung. Construction is reinforced polymer throughout. The fit is drop-in for any factory Ruger 10/22 Takedown, and it also accommodates the Tactical Solutions SBX barrel. This stock is finished in Flat Dark Earth.
