Magtech’s 200-grain subsonic load is built for shooters running suppressed .300 AAC Blackout setups who want a round that stays quiet and cycles reliably. The heavy 200-grain flat-nosed Full Metal Jacket bullet is intentionally heavy for the caliber — that extra mass is what keeps the round subsonic at the muzzle, leaving a suppressor with nothing to work against but the mechanical noise of the action. At 1,017 feet per second, the bullet remains well below the speed of sound, so there is no ballistic crack downrange regardless of conditions.

The flat profile of the FMJ bullet design serves a practical purpose in subsonic loads: it maintains a usable ballistic coefficient at velocities where most conventional bullet geometries begin to lose stability. Magtech publishes a ballistic coefficient of 0.56 for this projectile, which gives it better retained velocity and energy through the 100-to-300-yard window than the round’s modest muzzle speed might suggest. At 100 yards, the bullet still carries 427 foot-pounds of energy — meaningful for target work and close-range applications.

Brass cases with Small Rifle primers make this ammunition fully reloadable, which matters when you are shooting a specialty subsonic load in volume. The cases are sized consistently, and Magtech uses a Boxer-type primer arrangement, meaning standard decapping and repriming equipment handles them without modification.
