The 590S Shockwave is built for shooters who want a compact, pistol-grip pump gun that handles a wider range of ammunition than a standard 590. Where conventional pump shotguns are optimized for a single shell length, the 590S uses a redesigned elevator and bolt slide that allow it to cycle 1¾-inch mini shells, standard 2¾-inch loads, and 3-inch shells interchangeably without any adaptor. That flexibility matters in practice: you can run lower-recoil mini shells during a long range session and switch to full-power buckshot without touching the gun’s internals.

The Raptor grip replaces a traditional stock, keeping overall length short enough to handle one-handed while the corn-cob forend and attached strap give the support hand a secure purchase during the pump stroke. An energy-absorbing recoil pad sits at the rear of the receiver to take the edge off heavier loads — useful given that a pistol grip transfers recoil differently than a buttstock does against the shoulder. The ambidextrous top-tang safety is accessible from either side without repositioning the firing hand, which is a real advantage with a grip that already demands deliberate hand placement.

The 18.5-inch barrel wears a Matte Blued finish that resists minor surface corrosion without the higher maintenance demands of a polished blue, and a front bead gives you a fast, uncluttered sight picture appropriate for the ranges where a shotgun like this is most useful.
