Description
The Mossberg 940 Pro Field is built for hunters and sporting shooters who run a semi-automatic shotgun hard and want a gas system that can keep pace. Where many gas-operated shotguns require frequent cleaning to maintain reliable cycling, Mossberg engineered the 940 Pro’s self-regulating gas system to handle up to 1,500 rounds between cleanings — a meaningful interval when you’re running through a full day of dove or waterfowl hunting without a workbench nearby. The gas piston and rings are coated in nickel boron, which reduces friction and resists corrosion from the moisture and fouling that accumulates in field conditions.
The receiver is drilled and tapped, so adding an optic later is straightforward. For iron-sight shooting, the fiber optic front sight gives you a fast, high-contrast reference in low morning light at the marsh or treeline, where traditional bead sights wash out. The ambidextrous top-tang safety falls naturally under the thumb of either hand without changing your grip, which matters when birds flush quickly and your hands are already moving.
The adjustable synthetic stock provides 1.25 inches of length-of-pull adjustment, letting you dial in fit for different layers of clothing between early-season heat and late-season cold. The elongated elevator and beveled loading port make topping off the magazine faster under pressure. The 28-inch vent-rib barrel ships with Accu-Set choke tubes, giving you some flexibility to tune the pattern for different shot sizes and distances without buying additional components out of the box.
