Description
The Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical SPX is built around a single premise: a semi-automatic shotgun that cycles reliably under hard use without requiring constant user intervention to manage the gas system. Where many self-loading shotguns demand that the shooter tune a manual gas adjustment to match different loads, the 940 Pro’s self-regulating gas system handles that automatically, letting the gun run everything from light target loads to full-power tactical ammunition without adjustment between strings.
The 18.5-inch barrel keeps the overall package maneuverable in tight spaces without giving up enough velocity to matter for defensive or duty applications. Ghost ring sights sit at the rear, giving a wide, fast acquisition window that works well under stress and in low light — the large aperture pulls the eye naturally to the front bead without demanding precise focus. The receiver is also optic-cut from the factory, so a red dot can be mounted directly without a riser plate or adapter.
The synthetic stock is adjustable, which matters when the gun is being shared between shooters of different builds or worn over varied kit. An oversized charging handle and an elongated elevator — redesigned to eliminate the pinch point that earlier semi-auto shotguns were known for — address the handling complaints that showed up on working guns. The OD Green Cerakote finish is a corrosion-resistant surface treatment that holds up to field conditions better than blued or parkerized finishes. At 7+1 capacity, this is a purpose-built defensive and duty shotgun, and the feature set reflects that without unnecessary additions.
