Description

The Mossberg 590M magazine is the factory-original accessory for shooters who run the 590M platform and want to keep capacity on hand without improvising. Where the 590M departed from conventional pump-action design is the magazine itself: rather than a fixed tube, it accepts detachable box magazines, and that single change reshapes how you manage ammunition in the field or at the range. Dropping and replacing a spent magazine is faster than loading shells one at a time into a tube, and it allows you to stage different loads in different magazines before you ever touch the shotgun.

The double-stack configuration is worth understanding because it affects the physical footprint of the magazine. Stacking shells in two columns instead of one means a given round count occupies less vertical length than a single-stack arrangement would require for the same capacity, which keeps the magazine from hanging significantly below the receiver and preserving handling balance. The body is made from a proprietary self-lubricating polymer, which reduces the need for lubrication at that interface between magazine and action. Feed lips are hardened steel, and the shell ramps are over-molded steel as well — the contact surfaces that actually guide shells into the chamber are metal rather than polymer. The spring is heavy-duty music wire to ASTM-A-228 specification. The floor plate is removable for cleaning. All steel components carry a black oxide finish. These magazines are designed for 2.75-inch shotshells only.
