The 6mm ARC was designed from the outset to extract meaningful long-range ballistics from a standard AR-15 bolt face and magazine, and pairing it with an 18-inch barrel lets the cartridge develop closer to its full velocity potential compared to shorter builds, while keeping the rifle manageable in the field.

The rifle-length gas system that comes with this barrel length spreads the dwell cycle over a longer distance, which reduces the sharpness of the impulse felt at the shooter’s shoulder and eases the stress on the bolt carrier group during extraction. For a cartridge that will be run at high round counts in precision competition, that mechanical advantage matters over the course of a long session.
