Description
Otis Technology’s 1-inch square cleaning patches are built for shooters who run solid-rod cleaning setups and want a consumable that actually does its job without complicating the process. Cut from 100% cotton, the material absorbs solvent and carbon fouling more readily than synthetic alternatives, and the weave pulls cleanly through the bore without leaving lint streaks behind — a common annoyance with lower-quality patches that can obscure whether a barrel is truly clean or just smeared.
The square format is specifically designed for use with solid-rod jags, not Otis’s pull-through systems, which require round patches. That distinction matters: forcing the wrong patch type into a pull-through system can cause binding or uneven contact with the bore surface, reducing cleaning effectiveness. With a jag, the square patch folds around the tip and contacts the rifling evenly on the way through.
At one inch, these patches are sized for a broad range of smaller calibers — from .17 HMR and .177 up through 7mm — covering most rimfire and centerfire rifle cartridges in that diameter range. If you’re cleaning .30-caliber or larger, you’ll need Otis’s 2.5-inch or 3-inch patches instead. The 500-count quantity makes this a practical bulk purchase for anyone doing regular maintenance across multiple firearms or running a high volume of range sessions where barrels get dirty fast. Having a deep supply on hand means you’re not rationing patches or reusing spent ones, which defeats the purpose of the exercise.
