Description
The Otis Ripcord Deluxe is a compact, self-contained cleaning kit built for .45-caliber firearms — including .45 ACP, .450, and .458 chamberings — where a full cleaning rod and bench setup simply aren’t practical. It’s aimed at shooters who want a thorough bore cleaning in the field, at the range, or between stages without hauling extra gear.
The centerpiece is the Ripcord, a rubber-bodied pull-through tool with a bore-fitting rubber core wrapped in a cleaning surface. Unlike a traditional rod that pushes debris forward, the Ripcord pulls from breech to muzzle, moving fouling in the same direction the bullet travels and keeping it out of the action. The rubber construction also provides a degree of conform to the bore, maintaining contact across the rifling without the risk of a steel rod contacting the crown.
Beyond the Ripcord itself, the kit includes a caliber-specific bore brush and cotton bore mop for more aggressive scrubbing or final polishing passes, a short AP brush that seats into the T-handle notch for working around controls and bolt faces, a microfiber cloth, and a 0.5 fl oz bottle of Shooter’s Choice FP-10 Lubricant Elite. That combination covers the full cleaning sequence — loosen, remove, protect — without needing anything from outside the kit. The Ripcord’s materials are rated heat-resistant to 700°F, which matters when cleaning a barrel shortly after a range session. Everything packages compactly enough to carry without dedicating meaningful space in a range bag or field kit.
