Description

The Elevation MTR is Proof Research’s answer to a specific problem: building a bolt-action hunting and field rifle that performs at extended range without the bulk of a dedicated bench gun. It is aimed at hunters and long-range shooters who need a rifle they can carry through broken country and then make a precise shot when the moment comes.

The platform pairs a carbon fiber-wrapped barrel with a lightweight chassis, which shifts the weight savings to where they matter most — forward of the action — without sacrificing the stiffness that determines shot-to-shot consistency as the barrel heats. Carbon fiber wrapping draws heat away from the bore faster than a steel-only profile of the same diameter, which matters across a string of shots in the field.

The 1:8″ twist rate is well matched to the 7mm PRC’s preferred projectile range. Heavier, high-BC 7mm bullets in the 175–180 grain class stabilize reliably at that rate, giving shooters access to the cartridge’s strongest ballistic advantage at distance without having to compromise on bullet selection. Shooters running lighter 7mm projectiles will also find adequate stability, so the rifle isn’t locked into a single load.

The 20″ barrel gives up a modest amount of muzzle velocity compared to longer tubes, but the trade is a rifle that handles better on a pack hunt and sits more naturally in a field position. The TFDE finish on the stock resists abrasion and blends into most natural environments without the maintenance demands of a blued or polished surface. The 3+1 capacity keeps the action compact and the receiver rigid, which is consistent with the platform’s precision priorities rather than volume-fire use cases.
