Description

The PWS Mod 2 Bolt Catch is a direct replacement for the standard AR-15 bolt catch, designed for shooters who want more reliable, consistent control over the bolt during range sessions or in the field. The standard mil-spec paddle is a workable surface, but its narrow profile can make deliberate manipulation — locking the bolt to the rear or sending it forward into battery — imprecise, especially under gloves or in awkward positions. PWS addresses this by enlarging the surface area on both the top and bottom portions of the paddle, giving your thumb and fingers more to work with in either direction of travel.

The top surface of the paddle is checkered, which keeps your contact point from slipping during manipulation rather than relying on friction alone. That detail matters most when your hands are wet, cold, or gloved. The part is cast from AISI 8620 steel per ASTM A-732, a carburizing alloy that takes a hard case while retaining a tough core — appropriate for a component that absorbs repeated impact from the bolt carrier. The Black Oxide finish protects against corrosion without adding meaningful dimension to the part.
