Description

The Radian Afterburner and RamJet combo is built for Glock 17 Gen 5 shooters who want a meaningful reduction in felt recoil without adding bulk or complexity to their setup. Both components work together as a system: the RamJet is a drop-in, fluted replacement barrel machined from hardened 416R stainless steel with a gas sealing chamber, and the Afterburner is a micro compensator machined from hardened 17-4 stainless steel. The two are finished in black DLC — Diamond-Like Carbon — which delivers low friction, high hardness, and strong resistance to corrosion and muzzle-blast erosion.

The connection between barrel and compensator is handled by Radian’s INTRA-LOK system, which works on the taper-lock principle. A tapered locking screw seats into an angled V-groove cut into the underside of the barrel, drawing the compensator down onto the V-shaped muzzle profile and timing it precisely with each cycle. There is no Loctite, no shims, and no setscrews required. Because the barrel slides out of the slide without tools, cleaning remains straightforward despite the added compensator.

Installed on a G17, the Afterburner adds 0.47 inches to the overall slide length, which brings the package into G34 holster compatibility. The compensator’s front faces are angled specifically to assist holster re-entry rather than catch on the mouth. The RamJet barrel is match-grade cut rifled, which favors consistent bullet engagement over the service life of the bore. Together, the combination achieves 44 percent recoil reduction when shooting 124-grain ammunition — a figure that translates directly into faster split times and flatter muzzle movement during strings of fire.
