The 1-in-8 twist rate sits in a useful middle ground for this caliber. It stabilizes the heavier projectiles — 69 to 77 grain bullets common in match and long-range loads — that a faster 1-in-7 or 1-in-9 twist would either over-stabilize or fail to settle. If your intent is to run 55-grain ball, it will work, but the rifle is clearly optimized for heavier, longer projectiles where accuracy differences become meaningful at distance.
