Description

The Raptor-SD is Radian Weapons’ answer to a specific problem that emerges when shooting an AR-15 with a suppressor attached: propellant gas that would ordinarily exit the muzzle gets pushed back through the action and into the shooter’s face. The Raptor-SD addresses this with a ported shaft that intercepts and redirects that gas forward and downward, keeping it out of the shooter’s eyes and away from their breathing space. This isn’t a cosmetic or marketing distinction — the porting changes where the gas goes in a measurable, mechanical way that makes suppressed fire meaningfully more comfortable over extended range sessions.

The handle is ambidextrous, with levers on both sides of the receiver that can be actuated independently. This means a left-handed shooter gets a genuine full-function latch rather than the vestigial nub found on standard mil-spec handles, and a right-handed shooter can run it just as naturally as any conventional design. Both levers are substantial enough to manipulate with gloves or under stress without having to reposition the support hand awkwardly.

Radian machines the Raptor-SD from 7075-T6 aluminum — a grade chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio — and finishes it with a Type III hard coat anodize, which produces a surface harder and more abrasion-resistant than standard anodizing. This particular unit is finished in Radian OD, the manufacturer’s own olive drab color. It fits mil-spec AR-15, M16, and M4 upper receivers, making it a direct drop-in replacement without modification. Made in the United States.
