Description

The Raptor-SD-SL is Radian Weapons’ answer to a specific and real problem: running a suppressor on an AR-15 while keeping the charging handle from snagging on gear or a rifle bag. It combines two design choices into a single part. The shaft is ported to redirect the gas pulse that blows back through the charging handle channel when a suppressor raises backpressure — without that venting, the gas hits the shooter in the face. The handles themselves are the slim-line profile, which keeps the latch wings from protruding beyond the receiver and catching on pack straps, barriers, or sling hardware during a dynamic movement. Neither feature is useful on its own here: a standard Raptor handles the ambidextrous charging geometry but does nothing about gas redirection, while a suppressor-optimized shaft with full-size paddles would solve one problem and reintroduce another.

The ambidextrous latch design allows the shooter to charge from either side using a palm-blade or a finger-and-thumb pinch without switching hands or breaking a firing grip. Both latches are functional, not cosmetic — either one independently actuates the handle. The whole assembly is machined from 7075 aluminum and finished in black anodize, the same hard-coat process Radian uses across the Raptor line. It fits standard AR-15 upper receivers. If you shoot suppressed and run a low-profile carry setup, the SD-SL addresses both constraints in a single part rather than forcing a compromise between them.
