Description

The Reptilia DOT Mount is built for shooters who run a primary optic on their rifle but need a backup or transition red dot available without breaking their firing position. Mounting at 45 degrees from vertical on a 1913 Picatinny rail, it keeps an Aimpoint ACRO or Steiner MPS canted off to the side, ready the moment you roll the rifle rather than hunting for a different sight picture entirely. That geometry lets you stay behind the gun and shift to close-quarters engagement without lifting your head or swapping optics mid-drill.

The mount is machined from 7075 aluminum and 4140 steel — the aluminum body keeps weight down while the steel hardware handles clamping stress across repeated installations. Both materials are finished for corrosion resistance: the aluminum receives a Type III hardcoat anodize, which is a harder surface treatment than standard anodizing and holds up better against holster wear and field contact. At 61 grams, the mount adds minimal mass to the rifle’s balance.

The design is reversible, so it can be configured for either side of the rail depending on whether the shooter prefers the offset to the left or right. This matters for left-handed shooters and for anyone mounting the optic on a rifle that already has hardware occupying one side of the rail. Installation requires nothing beyond a standard Picatinny rail, and the footprint is specific to the ACRO and MPS mounting pattern — there is no adapter plate involved, which eliminates one potential point of movement between the optic and the mount.
