Description
The Riton 1 Primal 3-9×40 is a straightforward hunting scope built for deer woods and general field use, where a reliable sight picture at practical ranges matters more than a feature list. It sits at the entry level of Riton’s Primal line, and the design reflects that priority: functional, durable, and sized for the kind of shooting most hunters actually do.
The RHR reticle uses a refined duplex pattern — bold outer posts that pull your eye toward a finer center crosshair. In thick cover or fading light, that geometry works in your favor: the heavy lines locate the target fast, and the fine center lets you place the shot precisely once you’re on it. It’s a second focal plane setup, so the reticle stays a consistent visual size across the magnification range, which is useful for quick target acquisition without the reticle filling the view at low power.
Riton treats the optical surfaces with a fully multi-coated system across all air-to-glass surfaces, which reduces light loss and internal reflection compared to single or partial coatings. The practical result is a brighter, cleaner image during low-light periods — early morning and late evening being exactly when most hunters are in the field and need the optic to perform. The tube is nitrogen-purged and sealed, so internal fogging when moving between temperature extremes is not a concern.
A throw lever is integrated into the magnification ring, making power changes manageable with gloves on or in wet conditions without breaking your grip or your focus. Adjustments are made in quarter-MOA increments with tactile feedback, so you can confirm each click without looking away from the turret.
