Description
The Rix Optics RIP-3C is a four-function laser and illuminator unit built for shooters who operate with night vision devices and need a single compact package to handle visible aiming, infrared aiming, and infrared illumination without swapping hardware. It suits both civilian night-vision users and law enforcement personnel who require covert capability at practical engagement distances.
The green visible laser is the right choice for low-light and transitional environments because the human eye is considerably more sensitive to green wavelengths than red, making the dot easier to pick up under ambient lighting conditions where a red laser would wash out. The IR laser and visible green laser are coaxially aligned, so zeroing one simultaneously zeros the other — a practical design choice that eliminates the need to manage separate zero offsets. Windage and elevation adjustments use a 0.25 mil click value, and each click is positive enough to feel with standard cartridge case manipulation in the field.
The built-in VCSEL IR illuminator has an adjustable spot size, which matters when transitioning between close-quarters work and longer distances — a tight spot throws more concentrated energy downrange, while a wider flood pattern is more useful for near-distance area awareness through night vision optics. The IR laser always remains centered within the illuminator beam, keeping the aiming point consistent regardless of spot-size adjustments.
The aluminum alloy housing is rated IP67 for water intrusion resistance and is built to withstand 1,000G of impact force, making it appropriate for hard-use rifle setups rather than range-only service. It mounts to a standard M1913 Picatinny rail and runs on a single CR123A battery.
