Description
The Seekins Precision SP223 Gen2 is a stripped lower receiver built for AR-15 builders who want a foundation that goes beyond the minimum standard of mil-spec castings. It is CNC-machined from solid billet 7075-T6 aluminum, which means the receiver begins as a dense, uniform block rather than a casting with potential voids or inconsistent grain structure — the result is a part that holds tighter dimensional consistency through the machining process.
One of the more practical upgrades here is the upper receiver tensioning set screw. The slight fit variation between any given upper and lower is a common source of play in assembled AR-15s; this screw lets you dial out that movement without shimming or relying on luck during parts selection. The Seekins Enhanced Bolt Catch operates ambidextrously, so left-handed shooters get the same positive bolt lock-back without reaching across the rifle. The oversized trigger guard is integrated into the billet body rather than added as a hinged component — that matters when you’re running gloves, and it eliminates the separate pin that can work loose over time on standard guards.
The receiver accepts standard mil-spec lower parts kits and stocks, so you’re not locked into a proprietary ecosystem when it comes time to finish the build. It ships stripped, meaning you bring your own trigger group, buffer system, and furniture — which is exactly the point for a builder who already has preferences on those components. The Type III hard coat anodized finish is the same standard used across most serious AR-15 components, providing corrosion resistance without adding meaningful thickness. Made in the USA.
