Description
The 1911 X Carry is Sig Sauer’s answer to a straightforward problem: how do you bring a classic single-action platform into a role where red-dot sights and modern carry ergonomics are expected, without gutting what makes a 1911 worth carrying in the first place. The result is a commander-length pistol built around an optic-ready slide machined with a compact optic footprint, so you can mount a compatible red dot without an adapter plate adding height to the sight line. The pistol ships without an optic installed, which means you choose the glass rather than accepting whatever the factory bundled in.
The frame is stainless steel with an undercut triggerguard and a railed dust cover, giving you a grip that positions the hand higher and closer to the bore axis than a standard 1911 profile allows. That geometry matters on a single-action pistol because it reduces muzzle rise, keeping the sight picture more settled between shots. LOK Grips G10 panels replace standard wood or polymer, offering a texture that remains consistent whether your hands are dry or damp.
The flatblade trigger is adjustable, which is worth noting on a 1911 because the geometry of a 1911 trigger break is already one of its strongest qualities — an adjustable shoe lets you tune the take-up to match your hand without swapping parts. Front and rear slide serrations give you multiple purchase points for press-checks and chamber manipulation. The ambidextrous manual safety and extended slide release are functional for left-handed shooters rather than being token gestures. XRAY3 night sights provide a usable iron sight picture if you run the pistol without an optic, or as a co-witness reference when an optic is mounted. Two 8-round steel magazines are included.
