Description
The P226 MK25 is the pistol Sig Sauer developed specifically to meet the demands of the U.S. Navy SEALs, and it remains the closest thing a civilian buyer can get to that fielded sidearm. It is a full-size, metal-frame pistol built for shooters who want a proven duty platform rather than a polymer-framed carry compromise.
The double-action/single-action trigger system means the first pull is longer and heavier, cocking and releasing the hammer from a decocked position, while every subsequent shot fires from the lighter, shorter single-action position. That trade-off gives you a meaningful mechanical safety margin on the first round without requiring a manual thumb safety drill on shots two through the end of the magazine — a distinction that matters in a defensive or duty context where fine motor control degrades under stress.
The frame is aluminum alloy with a hard coat anodized finish, keeping weight manageable without sacrificing the rigidity that metal offers over polymer under sustained fire. The stainless steel slide carries Sig’s Nitron finish, which provides corrosion resistance particularly relevant given the MK25’s saltwater-environment origins. The carbon steel barrel runs 4.4 inches, balancing a sight radius long enough to support precise work at distance while keeping overall length practical for holstered carry.
SIGLITE night sights are fitted from the factory, so the pistol is immediately usable in low light without a separate purchase or gunsmith visit. An engraved anchor on the slide identifies this specific variant. The pistol ships with three 10-round magazines and includes a Picatinny rail forward of the trigger guard for mounting a light or laser.
