Description
The P226 X-Five Classic is SIG Custom Works’ answer to what a serious competition or precision-focused pistol should be — built from the ground up for shooters who want a single-action platform that can be dialed in rather than simply shot as-delivered. It is based on the P226 frame but reworked throughout, and the differences matter in practice rather than just on paper.
The 5-inch bull barrel adds mass at the muzzle end, which damps movement during the trigger press and helps keep the front sight planted through recoil. Because the barrel is heavier than a standard-profile tube, that weight stays forward where it can do useful work during rapid strings of fire or sustained stages. The stainless steel frame contributes to an overall weight that many competition shooters deliberately seek out — a heavier pistol converts recoil energy into slower, more manageable muzzle rise rather than a sharp snap, which means faster return to target.
The AX3 trigger is adjustable for pull weight, over-travel, and trigger shoe length-of-pull, which means a shooter can set the break to match their hand size and preference rather than adapting to a fixed geometry. The adjustable Dawson-style rear sight plate can be removed entirely to accept a Romeo1Pro, Romeo2, or any optic using the standard PRO footprint, giving the pistol a direct optic-mounting path without an adapter. The fiber optic front sight pairs with the adjustable rear for a precise, high-contrast reference at iron-sight distances.
Custom Hogue Cocobolo wood grips with an alloy magwell round out a package that comes ready to compete: three 20-round steel magazines with alloy base pads are included, so there is no immediate need to source additional equipment before putting the pistol to work.
