Description
The P320 M17 is the civilian counterpart to the pistol selected by the U.S. Army through the Modular Handgun System competition. It suits shooters who want a service-proven, full-size platform with the exact feature set the military specified, rather than a standard commercial P320 variant. The striker-fired action removes the external hammer from the equation, keeping the draw snag-free and the trigger pull consistent from the first round to the last — there is no half-cock position or decocking lever to manage.
The slide wears a coyote-tan PVD coating over stainless steel, which offers better corrosion resistance than a blued finish and holds up under the kind of handling a duty or range pistol sees regularly. The optic cut on the slide follows the MHS contract specification, meaning it accepts the SIG ROMEO1 PRO and other compatible optics directly — the non-PRO ROMEO1 footprint does not fit this cut, so plan your optic selection accordingly before purchase. The rear sight is a removable night sight plate rather than a fixed unit, which keeps the optic mounting surface clean while still giving you a usable aiming reference with the plate installed.
The SIGLITE front night sight pairs with that rear plate for low-light use without any additional hardware. A manual thumb safety is standard on this variant, which is the feature that most directly distinguishes the M17 from the base P320 — it adds a mechanical block for those who prefer one, without changing the grip module or the trigger geometry. The coyote-tan grip module ships in a carry-length configuration and the pistol includes two 10-round steel magazines.
