Description
The P320 XFIVE SXG is SIG’s factory answer for competitive shooters who want a complete, ready-to-run steel-frame pistol without building one from parts. It is aimed squarely at USPSA, IDPA, and open-division competitors who prioritize a flat-shooting, heavy platform that can go from the box to the stage with no mandatory upgrades.
The foundation of the design is a solid stainless steel SXG grip module that replaces the standard P320 polymer chassis entirely. Pushing total loaded weight toward 50 ounces, that mass concentrates low in the gun and absorbs a significant share of felt recoil before the slide even begins to cycle, which is the mechanical reason a heavier steel frame reduces muzzle flip more effectively than adding weight high on the slide with a compensator.
The 5-inch bull barrel locks directly into the slide without a bushing, which eliminates the small but measurable clearance that a traditional barrel-bushing interface introduces. Tighter barrel-to-slide lockup at the moment of ignition supports shot-to-shot consistency at the distances where competition scoring matters. Three interchangeable 1911-style recoil springs — 12, 14, and 16 pounds — ship with the pistol, letting the shooter tune cycling behavior to their specific ammunition rather than accepting a factory compromise.
The slide carries a PRO optic-ready cut on the DeltaPoint Pro footprint. The rear sight plate serves as a functional iron sight when no optic is mounted, so the pistol is fully sighted at all times. LOK Grips G10 panels are installed at the factory, providing a sharp texture that remains dimensionally stable under heat and moisture. Three 21-round steel magazines are included.
