Description

The Safariland 578 GLS Pro-Fit is a general-purpose outside-the-waistband holster built for shooters who carry long-slide pistols — frames comparable to the Glock 34, 35, or 17L — and want a single holster that accommodates a meaningful range of guns without sacrificing a secure, consistent draw. The wide-frame design is the reason this variant fits that category of firearm rather than a compact or sub-compact; the body is sized specifically to accept the longer dust cover and extended slide common to competition and duty long-slides.

Retention is handled by the Grip Lock System. When the pistol is seated, it locks automatically with no manual step required. To draw, the middle finger presses a release lever as part of a normal firing grip, so the motion is integrated into what the hand is already doing rather than added on top of it. This keeps the draw stroke consistent whether you are practicing or working under stress.

The holster body is molded from SafariSeven, Safariland’s proprietary nylon-blend polymer. The material is non-abrasive against a pistol’s finish and handles temperature extremes without becoming brittle in cold or soft in heat. Two attachment options are included in the box: an injection-molded paddle for quick on and off, and an injection-molded belt loop that can be repositioned for cross-draw carry. Both are standard fit, not afterthoughts. The finish throughout is Flat Dark Earth, matching a broad range of FDE-pattern gear. This configuration is set up for right-hand draw.
