Description
The Safariland Model 6378 is built for plainclothes carry and off-duty use where a full duty rig is impractical but a secure, fast draw is still non-negotiable. It fits the Glock 19 and is cut for right-hand draw in STX Plain finish, which gives it a matte, non-reflective surface that works under civilian clothing without catching light or printing through a cover garment.
The foundation of the design is Safariland’s Automatic Locking System, or ALS. When the pistol is holstered, a internal locking mechanism engages automatically over the slide, securing the firearm without any manual step on the part of the carrier. To draw, the shooter sweeps a thumb lever positioned at the rear of the holster body, releasing the lock in the same natural motion that begins a firing grip. There is no secondary hood to clear, which keeps the draw stroke simple and consistent — a meaningful advantage when a draw needs to happen under stress without fine motor steps.
Retention at holster is passive beyond the ALS lock: the hardshell SafariSeven construction — a nylon-based material that doesn’t rust, warp in heat, or take a set over time — provides a snug, precise fit to the Glock 19’s frame and trigger guard. The combination of a rigid shell and a single active retention device means the holster holds the pistol firmly during physical activity without requiring the wearer to fiddle with tensioning screws.
The dual-mount platform accepts either the included paddle or a belt loop, so the same holster body can be used on a belt or shifted to a paddle for situations where the wearer needs to go on and off the holster quickly. The paddle itself has a curve designed to tuck the grip inward toward the body, aiding concealment.
