Description
The Safariland 6378RDS is an outside-the-waistband concealment holster built around one specific problem: carrying a pistol equipped with a red-dot sight without giving up retention or a clean draw. Most standard holsters are designed around the slide profile alone, so a mounted optic either won’t fit or sits loosely against cut-outs that weren’t dimensioned for it. The 6378RDS solves this with a body molded to accommodate the optic housing directly, so the gun seats fully and the retention system engages the way it was designed to.
That retention comes from Safariland’s ALS — Automatic Locking System — which secures the firearm at the ejection port as soon as the pistol is holstered. To draw, the shooter sweeps a thumb lever as the hand comes onto the grip, releasing the gun in a single continuous motion. There is no secondary hood to manipulate and no outward indicator of how the release works, which keeps the mechanics low-profile for concealment use.
The holster mounts via a paddle that hooks over the waistband and locks against the belt line, letting you put the holster on and take it off without threading a belt. The STX Tactical finish is a matte black SafariLaminate construction — a thermoplastic core with a textured outer layer — that resists moisture and keeps the profile trim against the body. This variant is cut for the Smith & Wesson M&P with a four-inch barrel and is configured for right-hand draw.
