Description
The Safariland Species is an inside-the-waistband holster built for concealed carriers who want a purpose-designed fit for the Glock 48 without the added bulk that comes with more traditional IWB designs. Its minimalist profile trims material in the right places so the holster rides closer to the body, which matters most in appendix carry where even a few millimeters of extra thickness translates to noticeable printing.
Construction is SafariLaminate, Safariland’s thermal-molded laminate process that bonds layers into a rigid but precisely shaped shell. The interior is suede-lined, which protects the pistol’s finish during repeated draws and reholstering while adding just enough friction to keep the gun seated without relying solely on mechanical retention. Retention itself comes from an integrated passive trigger guard design, meaning the holster holds the firearm through contact pressure at the guard rather than a manual lock — draw breaks cleanly, but the gun doesn’t shift when you move. An adaptable tension device lets you dial in exactly how much resistance you want, so the draw stroke can be tuned to your preference rather than left at a factory default. The mounting clip is both cant-adjustable and vertically adjustable, which gives you real control over ride height and angle without swapping hardware.
The Species is optic-compatible, clearing the slide-mounted footprint of compact optics commonly used on the Glock 48. The Multicam Cordura finish on the exterior of the clip and backing integrates with the patterned textile without adding weight. This variant is right-hand only and fits a standard 1.5-inch belt.
