The Sons of Liberty Gun Works MK1 Maritime Bolt Catch is a direct replacement for the standard AR-15 bolt catch, built specifically for shooters who need more positive, deliberate control over the bolt hold-open function — particularly in gloved-hand or high-stress conditions where the factory component can be difficult to actuate reliably. The catch is machined from billet stainless steel, which provides a meaningful corrosion-resistance advantage over standard carbon steel catches when the rifle is exposed to moisture-heavy environments like coastal or maritime use.

The design features increased surface area and a serrated face on the paddle, which together give the thumb a more secure purchase during both lock-back manipulation and bolt release. Where a mil-spec catch offers a relatively small, smooth contact point, the MK1’s extended geometry and aggressive texture reduce the chance of a missed press under pressure without requiring a fundamentally different technique.
