Description

Sons of Liberty Gun Works developed the NTC Bolt Carrier Group for shooters who put serious round counts through their rifles and don’t want cleaning sessions to dominate their range time. The NTC coating — a nickel-Teflon compound applied to the carrier, bolt, ejector, and cam pin — creates a surface that sheds carbon rather than trapping it. That matters most in suppressed setups, where blowback deposits accumulate far faster than in unsuppressed configurations, but it pays dividends for any high-volume shooter.

The coating is slick enough at the metal-to-metal contact points that the carrier functions reliably with minimal lubrication, which is useful in austere conditions or during extended strings of fire where lube migrates or burns off. The chrome-lined gas key and carrier bore address a different problem: chrome resists erosion and corrosion at the surfaces that see the hottest, dirtiest gas, extending service life without requiring exotic maintenance. The chrome-plated firing pin adds the same logic to a part that experiences repeated impact stress.

The bolt itself is C158 steel, heat-treated and tested to both high-pressure and magnetic-particle inspection standards, which catches internal voids and surface cracks before they become field failures. The phosphate extractor is a deliberate choice — phosphate grips and retains oil at the microscopic level, keeping that specific component lubricated where it contacts the case rim under extraction force.

The OCKS — Optimized Carrier Key Screws — upgrade addresses carrier key staking, a chronic weak point on assembled BCGs where undertorqued or improperly staked screws can walk loose under sustained fire. The BCG is headspaced for 5.56 NATO and is also dimensionally compatible with .300 Blackout, 6mm MAX, and .350 Legend.
