Description

The KAK Industry K-SPEC is a bolt carrier group built for shooters who run their AR-15 in demanding conditions — suppressed, unsuppressed, or somewhere in between — without wanting to re-tune the gas system every time the configuration changes. The engineering centers on three interlocking problems: gas management, debris tolerance, and ejection consistency.

The standard AR-15 carrier vents propellant gas toward the ejection port, which pushes fouling and heat toward the shooter’s face and can become especially pronounced with a suppressor attached. The K-SPEC relocates those two primary gas relief ports to the underside of the carrier, routing vented gas downward through the magazine feed lip channels instead. Two supplemental ports are added to the bottom as well, serving as overpressure relief in the event of a case head separation. The net effect when running suppressed is a measurable reduction in back-pressure at the shooter’s position without requiring adjustments to the gas block or buffer weight.

The angled cuts machined into the carrier rails — KAK calls these sand cuts — are designed to move debris out of the bearing surfaces and into areas that don’t contact the receiver walls. The geometry channels fouling, carbon, and grit away from where it would cause a stoppage rather than relying solely on lubrication to keep things moving. The dual ejector system uses two standard mil-spec ejectors and springs working in concert, improving ejection consistency particularly when chamber pressure varies across different loads or suppressor configurations.

The carrier itself is machined to the M16 full-auto profile, and the FDE PVD finish and chrome-lined interior are KAK’s standard specification for this model. The K-SPEC holds a utility patent covering its design.
