Description

The Steiner DBAL-D2 is a dual-function aiming and illumination device built for shooters who operate under night vision. It combines a green visible laser with a Class 1 eye-safe IR pointer and an IR LED illuminator in a single housing, which means you carry one unit instead of two and deal with one mounting footprint on the rail. That matters when rail space and kit weight are actual constraints.

The IR LED illuminator is the piece that separates the D2 from simpler laser-only units. Built around high-definition aspherical telescopic lens technology, it throws a highly collimated beam adjustable between 2 and 30 degrees. A narrow beam reaches out and concentrates IR energy on a specific point at distance; opening it up floods a wider field for close-range navigation or area scanning. The illuminator is rated for eye-safe use at distances beyond 1,000 meters, so you are not trading range for safety.

The green visible laser runs at a wavelength that the human eye resolves more readily than red in daylight conditions, making the pointer useful in ambient light where a red laser would wash out. The body is machined from aircraft aluminum and attaches to any MIL-STD-1913 or Picatinny rail via a self-adjusting quick-release mount. It runs on CR123A batteries — a cell that is widely available in both commercial and military supply chains. The D2 is manufactured in the United States.
