Description

The Steiner P4Xi is a low-power variable optic built for carbine-length rifles where shots range from contact distance out to several hundred yards. It suits competitive shooters running 3-Gun stages, hunters who need quick target acquisition in thick cover, and defensive rifle owners who want a single optic that handles both room-distance threat identification and precise longer shots without a dedicated red dot as a backup.

The second focal plane reticle is the central design decision here. In an SFP scope, the reticle stays the same apparent size across the magnification range, which keeps the aiming point clean and uncluttered at 1x when you’re acquiring targets fast. The trade-off is that any ranging or holdover marks in the reticle are only calibrated at one specific power setting — typically maximum — so shooters using the subtensions for holds need to be deliberate about where the power ring sits. At true 1x, the illuminated reticle functions much like a red dot, letting both eyes stay open during dynamic movement.

The P3TR reticle pairs with LED illumination and a CR2032 battery to deliver red illumination across multiple brightness settings, letting you dial the intensity to match ambient light without washing out the aiming point. Half-MOA click adjustments give precise zeroing without requiring large turret inputs for small corrections, and the 100 MOA of total travel in each direction leaves meaningful room to compensate for offset mounts or to build in extended-range holds.
