Description

The Strike Industries Venom Flash Hider is built for .308/7.62 AR-10 and similar large-frame rifles where muzzle flash is a genuine problem — particularly in low-light conditions where a burst of unburned gas igniting at the crown can wash out your sight picture and slow follow-up shots. The four-prong design works by accelerating gas outward and away from the bore axis rather than letting it collect and combust in a concentrated cloud in front of the muzzle. That venting happens quickly enough that the gas disperses before it has a sustained chance to ignite, which is what separates a well-designed flash hider from a simpler A2-style device that only partially redirects pressure.

The prongs themselves are serrated at the tips, which adds a secondary function as a wire-cutting surface and provides some incidental muzzle crown protection. Strike machines the Venom from steel with a Parkerized finish, which holds up well against the heat and fouling that accumulate at the muzzle end. The device ships with a crush washer, so installation requires only a barrel with the correct 5/8″-24 thread pitch and a torque wrench — Strike specifies 20 to 25 ft-lbs for proper seating.

A pre-drilled port runs through the body of the Venom, which allows a gunsmith to pin and weld the device permanently to a 14.5-inch barrel. At 2.556 inches long, the Venom adds enough overall length to bring a 14.5-inch barrel past the 16-inch mark when welded in place, which is the practical reason for offering that feature on a muzzle device of this length rather than a shorter design.
