The EDCL2-T is SureFire’s answer to the question of what a serious everyday carry light actually needs to do: put enough light on a threat or obstacle to act on it, then step down to something usable for routine tasks without blinding yourself or killing the battery in an hour. Two CR123A cells power a dual-stage tactical tailcap that gives you 5 lumens with a slight press and the full 1,200-lumen output with a firm press — no mode cycling, no memorizing sequences. Twist the tailcap to lock it in constant-on. That gas-pedal feel means you always know which output you’re getting without looking at the light.

The 5-lumen low mode is genuinely useful rather than a token gesture. It runs for 60 hours, which matters when you want to read a map, check a lock, or navigate a dark house without advertising your position or ruining your night vision. High mode throws a tight, long-range beam through a Total Internal Reflection lens — suited to distance work rather than flooding a close space. Peak beam intensity of 11,300 candela gives that output real reach.

The body is machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and finished in Mil-Spec hard anodizing, which resists scratching and corrosion rather than just coating the surface. Knurling on both the body and tailcap keeps the light indexed in your grip under pressure or in wet conditions. The two-way clip lets you choose bezel-up or bezel-down carry depending on how you draw and what works with your other pocket gear. At 4.1 ounces with batteries loaded, it carries without constant awareness — which is the point of an everyday light.
