Description
The Arisaka Tailcap Adapter is a machining solution for shooters running a Streamlight Protac Rail Mount HL-X, HL-X Pro, or HP-X Pro who want to integrate that light into a pressure-switch or dual-switch setup built around Surefire Scout-pattern tailcaps. Out of the box, the Protac Rail Mount series uses its own proprietary tailcap, which locks you out of the broader ecosystem of Surefire and Unity remote switches that many rifle builds depend on — particularly when a laser or illuminator like an ATPIAL or DBAL is already occupying a switch slot. This adapter bridges that gap, letting the light accept Surefire UE (current black-ring version only), DS, and Z68 tailcaps, or the Unity Gascap USB-C, and by extension the full range of remotes those tailcaps support.
The practical payoff is that switches like the Surefire SR-D-IT and Unity AXON dual switches — designed to run a light and a laser simultaneously from a single hand — become compatible with the Protac platform without replacing the light itself. Streamlight’s TEN-TAP programming mode remains fully accessible through the adapter; changing output settings works the same way it does with the stock Streamlight tailcap, and the current mode is preserved unless you deliberately cycle through it.
The adapter is CNC machined from 6061-T651 aluminum and finished in MIL-A-8625 Type III hard coat anodize, the same specification used on mil-spec rifle components. It adds 0.49 inches to overall light length and 0.6 oz to weight — real figures worth accounting for in a tight rail space. Note that it is not compatible with the Protac Rail Mount 2.0 series or the HL-X Laser variant, and a compatible tailcap must be sourced separately. Manufactured in the USA.
