It runs on a single CR123A battery — compact enough to disappear in a pocket or on a belt, yet capable of delivering 500 lumens on high when you need to push light downrange or identify a threat at distance. That same tailcap switch gives you 5 lumens on low for close-range work without destroying your night adaptation or burning through the battery in minutes; the low setting runs for 45 hours, making it a legitimate backup during extended outings or power outages.

The switching logic is worth understanding before you carry it. A full press of the tailcap gives you momentary high output — useful for tactical use where you want light only when your finger is down. Twist the tailcap for constant-on high. A slight press accesses the low output, giving you a genuinely two-stage light from a single control without needing to cycle through modes. This is a deliberate design choice for stress situations, where fumbling through multiple modes is a liability.

The Total Internal Reflection lens shapes the beam to balance throw and peripheral coverage simultaneously.
