Description
The SureFire Z68 is a replacement rear cap assembly designed for SureFire Scout Lights and compatible flashlights. Its primary purpose is to give the shooter direct, tactile control over activation mode without having to think about it under pressure. Pressing the push-button delivers momentary-on output — useful for short, deliberate illumination bursts — while pressing through to a positive click locks the light into constant-on. A second click cancels constant-on. That two-stage action means the distinction between momentary and constant is built into the physical travel of the switch itself, not into a mode-cycling sequence you have to count through.
The raised guard encircling the button is a practical feature for anyone who carries a handheld light on their person. It creates enough of a physical barrier to prevent the button from being depressed against a pocket, holster, or piece of kit. For transport and storage, a dedicated lock-out feature takes that a step further by disabling activation entirely — relevant for range bags, vehicle storage, or any context where an unintended activation would drain the cell or create a hazard.
The body is machined from aerospace-grade aluminum and finished in a mil-spec anodized Tan that matches standard coyote and flat dark earth kit without being an exact color match claimed to any specific system. If your current Scout Light tailcap is a standard 3/4-inch diameter switch, the Z68 is a direct-fit replacement. It ships as a complete assembly — cap, switch, and hardware — so no additional components are needed to put it into service.
