Description
The SureFire SF3P SOCOM 3-Prong Flash Hider is built for shooters who want a serious reduction in muzzle flash and a direct path to running a SureFire SOCOM Series suppressor without swapping muzzle devices. The three-prong design works by allowing combustion gases to vent and disperse before they can ignite in the air beyond the muzzle, with SureFire reporting a reduction in visible flash of more than 99% under typical conditions. That matters at night or in low-light environments where a conventional A2-style hider still produces enough flash to compromise a shooter’s position or degrade night vision adaptation.
The 5/8×24 thread pitch fits the .223/5.56 barrel and also makes this flash hider a direct mounting adapter for SureFire’s SOCOM Series Fast-Attach suppressors — no additional adapter needed. Multiple precision-machined bearing surfaces govern suppressor alignment, which keeps the can concentric with the bore and prevents the tines from contacting the suppressor’s interior under the stresses of sustained fire. A labyrinth seal arrangement reduces gas bleed-back from the suppressor’s lock ring, a detail that matters for shooter comfort during extended suppressed use.
SureFire machines the SF3P from U.S. mill-certified, heat-treated stainless steel — chosen for its resistance to the corrosive byproducts of combustion and the particle erosion that degrades softer materials over a high round count. A DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating goes over the steel to extend that resistance further and to make carbon fouling easier to scrub away after hard use. Every unit is inspected for concentricity and thread alignment before it ships, because even small dimensional errors at the muzzle translate to alignment problems with a mounted suppressor. Installation uses standard timing shims and requires no permanent modification to the host weapon.
