Description

The SureFire EP7 Sonic Defender Ultra in medium, sold here as a 25-pair bulk pack in black, is built for environments where complete sound isolation would be as dangerous as no protection at all. The core design challenge it solves is straightforward: gunfire and industrial noise above 85 dB get attenuated, while voices and ambient sounds at safe levels pass through the earpiece as if it weren’t there. That pass-through happens passively, through a proprietary noise-reducing filter built into the body of the plug — no batteries, no electronics.

The foam-tipped stem uses Comply Canal Tips, a soft memory-foam material that conforms to the ear canal for a secure acoustic seal and extended wear comfort. Retention is handled by SureFire’s EarLock ring system, which uses seven contact points around the concha bowl to keep each earpiece consistently positioned — useful when the fit needs to be repeatable across a shift or a range session rather than adjusted each time. The plugs are made from hypoallergenic, medical-grade polymer throughout.

When the situation calls for full blocking — aircraft noise, sustained equipment operation, anything where hearing ambient sound isn’t useful — the included filter caps insert to bring the Noise Reduction Rating to 28 dB. With caps removed, the EP7 also functions as an earpiece for a range of compatible radio communication systems, including Motorola surveillance kits and Silynx C4Ops headsets, among others. The low-profile form factor is designed to remain in place under a helmet, behind a mask, or alongside hearing muffs. A 26-inch polymer lanyard and an additional pair of Comply Canal Tips are included with each set.
