Description

The Timney Alpha Competition is a drop-in trigger upgrade aimed at Glock Gen 3 and Gen 4 large-frame shooters who want a meaningfully lighter and more consistent press without rebuilding the pistol’s internals. It fits the large-frame platform — covering models 20, 21, 29, 30, 40, and 41 — and installs using all stock Glock parts and springs, so there is no need to source a new spring kit or have a gunsmith fit the components.

The factory pull weight comes in at approximately 3 pounds. On a standard Glock, the trigger pull is typically in the 5- to 6-pound range and involves a fair amount of take-up and reset travel that can work against precise shot placement under time pressure. Dropping to 3 pounds with a straight aluminum trigger shortens the mental and mechanical work required per shot, which matters most in competition stages where split times and target transitions accumulate quickly.

The sear and trigger bar receive a Teflon nickel coating. This matters because those two components bear against each other through every trigger cycle, and the coating reduces friction at that interface while also providing a measure of corrosion resistance — useful for a pistol that sees regular range use in varied conditions. The safety blade is machined from aluminum and anodized green, which keeps blade weight low and gives the trigger a visually distinct look that makes it easy to confirm which pistol has the upgraded unit at a glance.

Because the Alpha uses the host pistol’s existing springs, felt function remains within the envelope Glock’s system was designed around, preserving the firing pin energy and reliability characteristics the platform is known for.
