The Walker’s Firemax is a behind-the-ear electronic muff built for shooters who wear hats, helmets, or ear protection in tight quarters where an over-the-head band gets in the way. The behind-the-neck band keeps the headband clear of the crown, which also means less interference with cheek weld when you’re running a long gun. These are not passive muffs with a simple foam seal — the Firemax runs a digital audio circuit with omni-directional microphones that pick up ambient sound and pass it through to full-dynamic-range HD speakers, letting you hold a conversation or track movement downrange while the muffs are on your head.

Sound-activated compression is what separates electronic hearing protection from passive plugs. When a shot fires, the circuit reacts fast enough to clamp down on the impulse before sustained exposure causes harm, then reopens so you’re not left in silence between strings. The Firemax gives you four frequency modes — Universal, Clear Voice, High-Frequency Boost, and Power Boost — so you can tune the pickup to match conditions, whether that’s a noisy outdoor range, a covered firing line, or a hunting field where you’re listening for game.

The housing carries an IP54 rating, meaning it handles dust ingress and water spray from any direction — practical protection for outdoor use in variable weather.
