Description

The Walker’s Razor Compact Passive Muff in Teal is built around shooters who have historically been underserved by standard-sized hearing protection: youth and women. Most over-the-ear muffs are sized for an average adult male head, which means smaller heads end up with cups that gap at the seal, undermining the protection the muff is supposed to provide. Walker’s addressed that by designing the Razor Compact with a reduced cup profile and a collapsible form factor that actually conforms to smaller dimensions rather than simply adjusting the headband.

The ear cups are constructed from sound-dampening composite housing, which absorbs and disperses noise energy rather than relying solely on the seal to do the work. The headband uses a metal wire frame beneath the comfort material, giving it enough structure to hold its shape across repeated folding and unfolding without fatiguing and losing clamping force over time. An NRR of 24 dB means it attenuates enough sound to be appropriate for handgun and rifle shooting at an outdoor range, keeping impulse noise below the threshold where single-event hearing damage becomes a real concern.

Because this is a passive design, there are no electronics to manage, no batteries to go dead at the range, and no circuitry that can be damaged by moisture or rough handling. What you lose is the amplified ambient hearing that active muffs provide between strings of fire. For a young shooter or a woman who wants straightforward, reliable protection without the added cost or complexity of electronics, that trade-off is usually the right one. The collapsible build also makes it easy to stow in a range bag without dedicating significant space to it.
