Description

Wilson Combat’s TR-BCA is a complete bolt carrier group built to mil-spec dimensions and intended for shooters who want a drop-in replacement or spare that will run reliably across a range of 5.56 case-head AR platforms, including those running .223 Remington, .300 Blackout, or similar cartridges sharing that case head diameter.

The bolt itself is machined from Carpenter 158 steel and then shot peened, a process that compresses the surface grain and increases resistance to fatigue cracking under repeated firing stress. The extractor and ejector are tool steel, which holds an edge under the sustained impact loads that softer materials would eventually deform under. Each bolt is randomly batch high-pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected — the latter being a non-destructive method that reveals subsurface cracks invisible to the eye.

The carrier is 8620 steel with an internally chrome-lined gas key, which resists carbon buildup and corrosion inside the key where cleaning is difficult. The gas key is staked, meaning the fasteners are mechanically deformed into the carrier to prevent them from walking loose under the cycling forces that would eventually loosen a merely torqued key. The entire assembly wears a Parkerized finish, a phosphate treatment that is porous enough to retain lubricant and holds up to field conditions better than bare steel.

The carrier profile is the full-auto pattern, which adds mass compared to the semi-auto profile. That extra weight slows the unlocking cycle slightly, which can reduce extraction problems and smooth out the impulse on short carbine gas systems and on suppressed setups where increased back-pressure would otherwise cause the carrier to move too aggressively.
