Description
The YHM-5M2-QD is a dual-purpose muzzle device designed for shooters running a Turbo or Turbo K suppressor who want meaningful recoil and muzzle-rise reduction when the can is off the rifle. On its own it functions as a compensating muzzle brake; mount the suppressor and it becomes the quick-detach interface. That combination means you are not giving up a dedicated brake just to run a suppressor-ready setup.
The three-chamber internal geometry vents propellant gases to the sides and upward, which counters both rearward impulse and muzzle climb. The deliberate absence of downward-facing ports matters for anyone shooting from the prone position: venting gas toward the ground raises a dust signature that gives away your position and can obscure your sight picture. With no ports pointing down, neither problem applies.
Machined from 4140 steel with a Black Oxide finish, the brake is built to handle the sustained heat cycles that come with high-volume use. The redesigned exterior profile is smooth and uninterrupted, which keeps carbon buildup from finding purchase in recesses and makes routine cleaning straightforward. A shim kit is included so you can time the device correctly on a 1/2″-28 threaded host, eliminating the guesswork of achieving proper port orientation at the correct torque. YHM specifies a torque range of 20 to 30 ft-lbs for installation. The brake is made in the United States.
