Description

The MR7 is Yankee Hill Machine’s answer to the demand for a free-floating handguard that doesn’t compromise weight for versatility. Built for AR-15 platforms and machined from 6061-T6 aluminum with a hard-coat anodized finish, it gives up very little mass while retaining M-LOK mounting positions along the full length of the tube — including at every 45-degree interval. That matters in practice: accessories like lights, pressure switches, and angled grips can be placed where your support hand actually wants them, not just at the three, six, and nine o’clock positions that a standard rail forces on you.

The extended Picatinny top rail is T-marked, so optic placement and return-to-zero after removal are repeatable without guesswork. Because the rail runs longer than the handguard body, it gives you additional mounting real estate forward of the upper receiver — useful when running a magnified optic alongside a backup sight or a laser unit. The free-floating design means the barrel sees no contact from the handguard, which removes a common source of pressure-induced point-of-impact shift during extended strings of fire or when a support hand grips hard.

Installation hardware is included — barrel nut, jam nut, and anti-rotation screws — along with instructions. YHM also offers a dedicated forearm wrench, the YHM-9621, which is worth picking up separately to protect both the upper receiver and the handguard finish during fitting. Each front and rear hole is sized to accept YHM’s quick-detach swiveling sling mount, so sling integration doesn’t require an adapter.
