Description

The Yankee Hill Machine Nielsen Piston is a booster piston designed for use with pistol suppressors mounted on semi-automatic handguns. When a suppressor is attached to a tilting-barrel pistol, the added weight at the muzzle can prevent the barrel from cycling reliably — the Nielsen piston solves this by acting as a spring-loaded buffer that decouples the suppressor’s mass from the barrel’s unlocking motion, allowing the action to cycle normally under suppressed fire.

This version is threaded M16x1 left-hand, a pattern found on a range of pistol hosts that use reverse-clockwise muzzle threading. It is machined from heat-treated 17-4 stainless steel, a grade chosen for its combination of strength and corrosion resistance — meaningful for a component that sits at the muzzle and is exposed to carbon fouling, moisture, and cleaning solvents. The silver finish is native to the stainless material rather than applied over a base metal.

Ten adjustment points around the piston allow the user to index the suppressor’s rotational position relative to the bore, which lets you correct any point-of-impact shift introduced by suppressor attachment. It is compatible with YHM’s booster housing YHM-2055 and fits a wide range of popular pistol suppressor designs. One compatibility note worth knowing: this piston works with the Sidewinder M2 but is not compatible with the original Sidewinder. At roughly 1.4 ounces, it adds minimal weight to the host platform.
