Description

The Razor Compact is Walker’s answer to a straightforward problem: standard-sized ear muffs fit poorly on smaller heads, which means loose cups, broken seals, and compromised protection. The compact form factor is sized specifically for youth and women shooters, and the lower-profile ear cups let it sit closer to the head without the gaps that undermine attenuation on full-sized muffs.

The electronic side of the design centers on a hi-gain omnidirectional microphone that amplifies ambient sound so the shooter can hear range commands and conversation at normal volume. When a shot breaks, sound-activated compression cuts in with a 0.02-second reaction time, clamping down before the impulse reaches damaging levels. That response speed is fast enough to be effective at the muzzle without clipping so much ambient sound that the muff becomes isolating between shots. The circuit is tuned to favor natural-sounding voice frequencies rather than raw amplification, so what you hear through the cups more closely resembles unfiltered speech than the tinny output of a flat-gain amplifier.

The recessed volume control knobs sit inside the cup profile rather than protruding outward, which keeps them from snagging on a rifle stock when the shooter mounts the gun cheek-to-stock. The external battery door means swapping the two AAA cells does not require tools or disassembly. The headband uses a perforated design that reduces heat buildup during long sessions, and the muff folds down compactly for range bag storage. Both AAA batteries are included.
